I went to LCA and loved it. It has a great environment where you get to know most of the students a grade above and below you as well as your class. I went onto college and and graduated with a Biology degree and I was ahead of most of the other freshman in my science and math classes coming in. It was nice to have that solid foundation. I would recommend sending your children there and when my son is going into 7th grade I hope to send him there!

Good foundational experiences abound and if you want to be involved, there are plenty of activities (extra-curricular or not). Obviously they don't have the expansive resources of the local school system. However, inclusion in extracurricular activities is only limited by your kid's interest. If they want to do it, it can be done somehow.

We had 2 children attend Lakeland for 2 years and only stopped because we moved. My kids loved it there! The secretary frequently had a hug for them, about half the time, Scott (one of the staff members), was standing at the door, greeting the kids as they came in the morning. I love to seeing that! The teachers were interested in seeing the kids succeed and would go out of their way to help them do so. My daughters basketball coach was a great mentor and kept in touch with her throughout the year. My kids made great friends who have the same ethics and values we do. The drawbacks we found we're there were very few AP classes offered and sometimes there was not advanced notice about things. Overall a wonderful experience though and going to school where Christian values were demonstrated on regular basis had such a positive effect on our family.

Is Lakeland better than public schools? In many ways yes, a few ways, no. Its a school, not a miracle factory. My point is, the real value at Lakeland is in the Christian environment. My child is exposed to an environment where I don't have to worry about the principles and values being taught. I don't have to worry (nearly as much) about my kid being accosted by peers or questionable curriculum.

Attended here for high school, would not recommend sending your kids here. Overall education was poor and left me ill-prepared for college. Also the teachers were unqualified and displayed heavy favoritism.

One issue of note we found was communication between teachers and new parents, which has been a little rough. Orientation didn't fully cover the methods of communication available for parents, or the online interface available to check your kids progress. Also, either the teachers or the system lags in updating the grades online which gave an erroneous impression last year, made us wonder why our child was failing several subjects. Needless to say all these issues have been figured out, but there is much room for improvement.

I have one kid going here. Experience has been nothing but positive, from challenging coursework to teachers who care about the students. Many (most?) Students graduate with several college credits (I've heard of as many as 60?!), so I anticipate she'll be well on her way into college when she's done here.

My daughter attends Lakeland Christian Academy and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. It is a true family atmosphere with kind Christian teachers that teach every subject from a biblical perspective. They truly care about my daughter's academic, social, spiritual and physical life. They have a 99.9% graduation rate with almost as high a percentage of their students going to college after graduation. I love the fact that my daughter can play all sports, be in choir, and help out with local non-profit organizations around the area through their Unleashing the Power of the Son program in which every other Wednesday all the students leave the LCA campus and volunteer at non-profits around the county. If you have never toured LCA, do yourself and your family a favor and schedule a visit. I think it is one of our counties best kept secrets.

Lakeland has provided a great experience for my kid, and when the second one is ready to go, I'm sure she'll enjoy it too.

The athletics available are tempered with academic values (keep your grades up or you don't play, for real). I'm not the most athletically inclined parent, but we've found plenty of opportunity here.
