If Pastor Nate really was a qualified marriage counselor lot of the pitfalls encountered could have been avoided. Sad to say, I offered to talk to him about feedback regarding marriage counseling, but he refuses to talk to me. He says he is too busy to talk with me. He runs a side coffee business which apparently he is not too busy for. I am writing this so other people can avoid my fate if they use him for marriage counseling.
Due to Pastor Nate being inexperienced in marriage counseling and based on what my now ex-wife told him, he initially he looked at me as if I was the "bad" guy. When he realized his error after talking with me multiple times, he told me that it was my wife that was the one with the issues. He said that she had given a false representation about me, so basically lied about me. In essence, she had sought " marriage counseling" for the purpose of convincing Pastor Nate and I that the inevitable break-up was my fault and, also, to get me to "confess" to things that could be used against me in any ensuing court battle over alimony, child custody, etc.
So after it all went south, Pastor Nate told me fight for custody and told me that he would support me if it went to court. (I suspect he did not think it would go to court, as only 4% of people take things to court) His church spies had reported to him that my now ex-wife was emotionally unstable and it did not look like my child was in good hands. He had also forwarded to the church spies the emails I was sending my then ex-wife, he had asked me to write emails for her to reconsider. I did not like the fact that other people I did not know were reading my private emails when I did not give authorization for it to be shared. I thought this was a serious violation of privacy and confidentiality.

Moving on, when it came time for court, he backed out his promise to testify and I was forced to issue a subpoena to get him to talk about the posture of both parties in counseling in court. During court my now ex-wife issued what was in effect a gag order on Pastor Nate so he could not talk about her but I told the court he could talk about me. So under oath he was questioned about me. With the gag order in place and the one sided testimony of Pastor Nate, it was clear that the marriage counseling was not on the up and up and it was basically a sham.
This is a review of marriage counseling by Pastor Nate McLaurin of Christ’s Covenant Church in Winona Lake. I feel that you can avoid a lot of nonsense by seeking a real professional instead of Pastor Nate McLaurin for marriage problems. He is highly unqualified and incompetent for marriage counseling. As of 2013, other than being a pastor of a church, he has no qualifications for being a marriage counselor. My young marriage quickly fell apart after he became involved. Prior to going to him, I felt the marriage was fine, but my now ex-wife who attended CCC did not think so. Pastor Nate also simply lacks the bandwidth to the make time to help as he himself proclaims that he is a busy man. I was always ready when he wanted to talk and went out of my way to sync with his schedule, later on it was really difficult to get hold of him. I saw that he was also dishonest at times and will bend the truth which was really surprising in that he is a pastor. He will use spies (church members) to get information surreptitiously. One trick Pastor Nate employs to get you to be comfortable with him is to confess something about himself so you can open up to him. What he told me, I will not reveal here, but it shocked me. He would have spent hard time in jail if he got caught. So be careful of this ploy to win your over to confess. I say this because he told me what my then wife told him when I was not present, I suspect he told her what I told him. A counselor should never go behind people's back like that.
